I hereby resign my post as Senior Archivist, effective upon receipt.
My objection concerns the decision to proceed with the Sensory Pollinarium, an immersive facility promising “working reproductions of the topography and life found on Chimera.” Paper gowns, curated soundscapes, and conditions designed to induce image germination in visitors; the public welcomed as “participants in a living document.” Under ordinary circumstances, I would endorse that mandate.
But these are not ordinary circumstances.
Post-Event analyses of Δ-MC7 indicate the mycelium is reconstructing fragments of a planetary neural lattice, selecting substrates across human neurology, infrastructure, and even procedural logic. The Pollinarium, as currently designed, is not neutral pedagogy. It constitutes a stabilized interface: rhythmic audio, staged vistas, calibrated atmospherics. All the affordances are our own data engineered to erode resistance while deepening coupling. In effect, an amplifier for contact.
You intend to admit the public into an environment tuned to override their defenses and implant afterimages, with “bespoke packages” for those unable to generate genuine afterimages. Your own language acknowledges: “learning comes with risks.” With Δ-MC7 roused, those risks are no longer hypothetical and the afterimages are no longer inert. Simulation alone appears sufficient: we have already observed non-genuine representations carrying structural code – catalog queries returning Chimera relay-pit forms under unrelated terms, shared dream topographies among personnel who never entered Sector 4, dermal fluorescence crawling across cranial dermatomes in staff exposed only to reproduced images.
For the record, I will note three specific incidents:
- After a 12-minute Pollinarium audio test in a clean room, two interns reported tasting peat and iron, then described the same coastline they had not been shown.
- A “bespoke package” mock-up (no live specimen content) hung in the Education Wing exhibited condensation patterns matching Δ-MC7 branching angles.
- During archive inventory, I found the paper gowns shed a fine lint that, under 420 nm, briefly traced lattice lines along my wrist. The pattern faded—and returned—with my pulse.
The Pollinarium’s promise to “blur vacation destination and research facility” while treating the public as co-creators collapses the line between study and spread. Placing “near-perfect simulations” in a giftshop externalizes vectors. You propose to recruit a city as substrate.
I request, for the record:
- Immediate suspension of Pollinarium activation and distribution of any “bespoke packages.”
- Independent review of Δ-class semiotic hazards specific to induced afterimages and simulated environments.
- Public communication that does not frame participation as harmless enrichment while a containment anomaly remains unresolved.
On Chimera, life participates in a continuous lattice of hunger, memory, and dream. Δ-MC7 is extending that logic through us. Whether we call it communion or capture will not matter once the door is opened.
I cannot consent to recruiting the public as a pathway. If the aim is to test psychogametous spread, then consider this letter itself a data point.
